I just got mine up and working basically following kiran's directions. I used the alternate CD to do a regular install and then to do a rescue install, which I backed out of to get to the shell and change the grub boot options to create a text mode option (with the nouveau.modeset=0 as well). I also changed quiet splash to nosplash.
I booted up using the text mode option I created. Then I installed this driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-amd64-195.36.24.html Updated 64 bit version of what Douglas had mentioned: wget ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/195.36.24/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.36.24-pkg2.run -O nvidia.sh The install gave me a warning that the preinstall script didn't work, but I took a look at it and all it does it fail so you don't overwrite the ubuntu packages, I continued anyways. I also let it reconfigure my settings and then rebooted and now it works. After running all the updates, I modified the grub option again and after booting up I enabled the restricted driver from Ubuntu (looks like it's a couple sub versions back) and it works too. My thinking is you might be able to just get away with adding the nouveau.modeset=0 and nosplash. Now I just need to get my touchpad scrolling figured out. Also, I had to modify the right alt key in the keyboard layout, I switched it to the left win key instead. -- [lucid] [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
