What you have experienced is a corner case that does not apply to the
intended purpose of usb-creator. Unfortunately this is because usb-
creator does a check for disk space at the beginning (once) and can't
reserve disk space at that point since it uses a copy process. The disk
should not be in use by other processes while usb-creator is using it.
Two workaround for this particular corner case would be to copy files to
the disk either before or after usb-creator is using it.
