/var/log/bootstrap.log isn't useful; it's created during the live CD
build process, not on your system.

It is extremely strange that /var/log/installer/syslog does not exist;
the installer creates that as practically the first thing it does, and
your crash is well into the installation. I suspect that your kernel is
confused at the filesystem level. Would you mind doing a CD integrity
check to make sure that the CD is properly burnt, etc.?

Unfortunately, the error traceback you quote is not very useful in
itself, and needs /var/log/installer/syslog for a full diagnosis. Please
try enabling dapper-updates in /etc/apt/sources.list and then doing
'apt-get update; apt-get install gparted ubiquity ubiquity-frontend-gtk
ubiquity-ubuntu-artwork'. The version of ubiquity in dapper-updates has
a number of bug fixes, but more to the point will give more detail in
tracebacks if something goes wrong at this stage.

Thanks in advance.
