This bug report was for a system where I had upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 (I guess I should have mentioned, but I didn't. Shame on me). I now tried a fresh 10.04 install on a spare hard drive I had. The "screen goes blank" problem was present during the installation (but switching to another console and back worked here too). However, on the installation I got, X works just fine. No screens going blank, and performance is fine (for my rather light weight needs, at least).
(The installer is pretty nice, btw) -- X is extremly slow and misbehaves at startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575459 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
