This bug affects me too. My machine is HP pavilion dv5 1299ev, distro: ubuntu 10.04 32bit / 2.6.32.21, I can confirm that with Karmic I had no problem. Must be same bug with #546503 "HP touchpad-disable switch damages mouse and focus capability"
