I also have this. I've tested it on a number of DVD's I have. If I try reading a previously written DVD-R, or DVD+R DL, the drive disappears. If I remove the disc, the drive reappears. If I try a previously written CD-R or DVD+RW, it works as expected.
It did not work before, and after upgrading, it still doesn't work.
