I've just installed Lucid and I have the feeling that my problem is related to this bug. Sometimes, when Ubuntu starts I get this message:
dev/sda2: clean, 2312/231242 files, 213123/2311434 blocks (check in 4 mounts) init: Failed to spawn rc-sysinit main process: unable to open console: Input/output error The only way to fix it is by disabling Plymouth removing the options "quiet splash" from the starting params. For the record: I've installed Lucid from the Minimal CD Image and I'm using Slim as the login manager.
