@doctordruidphd Installing the driver from the nvidia installer must have left your system in a broken state.
Compare these 2 lines from your log: (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so with these 2 lines from my log (which is how things should be): (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/extra-modules/libglx.so (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/extra-modules/nvidia_drv.so Please try a clean installation of Ubuntu and install the driver from Jockey.
