My student users appear quite impressed with 10.04 LTS on the machines where it is installed. So far, very few have changed the default background. Regarding the button locations, many quickly switched to the "New Wave" which matches the color scheme quite nicely and has the buttons on the right. As for who prefers the buttons on the right versus the left, there is no surprise here. The Mac users think the left side buttons are just wonderful, and many of the rest quickly switched to a right-handed theme. From here this looks like it is going to be one of the best if not the best Ubuntu release so far; most definitely, it's the fastest.
