The problem was with dependencies while installing the package, not with running the kernel, so I cannot see why testing an upstream kernel packaged the same way should be interesting.
These are the relevant lines found in /var/log/apt/term.log Could not find postinst hook script [update-grub]. Looked in: '/bin', '/sbin', '/usr/bin', '/usr/sbin' I now assume that the problem has something to do with the fact that I had tried to move from grub to grub-pc some months ago, but eventually removed (uninstalled) grub-pc again. These are of course quite singular circumstances so feel free to just discard this bug report. -- linux-image-2.6.31-21-generic failed to install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
