Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Hello.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (final) and just created a user "test" with
default settings. Then I tried changing it's user id from 1001 to 999 so
that it would not appear at login screen.

The problem is that when changing the uid, the application takes about
10s to process and the uid is changed in the textbox, but id does not
change it actually. After I restart users-admin the uid is the same
1001.

Of course one line in terminal
sudo usermod -u 999 test
fixed this without any complains but if you do have a GUI for this feature then
it should work.
