Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
This sometimes occurs at lower than 65%, but I suspect that may be another bug. Sound clips/distorts at approx 65%. Suspect this is because PCM volume is set to 100% leaving little head room on PCM sources. Sound has been fine with previous two versions of ubuntu on this laptop. This is a particular problem with the login ready sound - its so badly distorted if I leave my speakers on high it causes ringing in my ears and can't be good for my speakers.
