Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
The sole monitor attached to this computer is Toshiba 42XV54SU television. When I turn the television off, and later turn it back on, the computer display does not appear (other inputs, such as cable TV do work). The only way I have found to restore the display without restarting X is this script: #!/bin/sh DISPLAY=:0.0 xrandr --output DVI-1 --off DISPLAY=:0.0 xrandr --output DVI-1 --auto (I run it from another computer using SSH, since I can't see what I'm doing.) I have disabled the screen saver and the Power Managment setting "Put display to sleep when inactive for" is set to Never I used this setup under Jaunty and Karmic for the lives of those distros, and did not experience this issue. It seems to be new in Lucid. (OTOH, 3D acceleration works in Lucid for the first time, and I have Desktop Effects enabled.)
