Just a note regarding the disk controller: It seems LSI SAS 1068 has serious issues with the 9.10 amd64 server release candidate kernel, I encounter offlining of the system disk on a HP ProLiant DL140 G3 during installations with that LSI Logic controller. Sometimes the system disk can be reactivated by replugging it. Issuing commands via smartctl immediately offlines the disk. I will probably open a bug report as soon as I have investigated a bit more.
