Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mountall
Ubuntu 9.10 If /etc/fstab is misconfigured, boot fails Working fstab entry /dev/sda8 /mnt/lotus auto noauto 0 0 BUT if we delete the "auto" (no file system specified) /dev/sda8 /mnt/lotus noauto 0 0 Now, with this misconfigured line ^^ As Ubuntu boots, we get an error message from mountall, /dev/sda8 failed to mount, hit Esc to drop to a maintance shell ... However, Ubuntu will not drop to a maintenance shell. I had to boot a live CD , mount the root partition, and manually fix /etc/fstab Try it for yourself and see =) Ubuntu should : 1. Skip the misconfigured mount 2. Drop to a maintenance shell ** Affects: mountall (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- boot fails if fstab is misconfigured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570505 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
