After trying the action above and realizing I could not connect because my wireless was not configured. I tried rebooting and because nothing else appeared to work I hit the enter key when the icon screen first came up. This allowed me to select a from the normal setup menus "the try without installing option". I am not sure if it is a bug in the startup or if it was intentional, but there is no indication that you must hit a key to access the menu. If a key is not clicked at the moment the icons come up the program will give you an install error after apparently trying to install. I think you may want to modify this interface to bring up the menu automatically so that it performs the way the previous version of Ubuntu did. Note: A search on the net found other people who had the same problem and accidentally found that the solution was clicking a key at the correct moment.
