I have the same problem with a Thinkpad X61s. The notebook has no hard switch instead the Fn/F5 key combination is used to enable/disable wireless. When pushing Fn/F5 the Soft Blocked status for bluetooth and wlan toggles but hard blocked is always yes and therefore no wireless.
