@ Raimund Thanks for the tip about the 2.6.18 kernel, I'm going to take a look at it. I guess alternatively one can try the backported 2.6.32 kernel on Debian as well. I'm sure that one has this feature. I'm going to to give a try to that one as well.
Anyway, just so I understand when the kernel provides the fd_signal feature upstart would actually work without much hacking?
