The bug vanished in the meantime. I can't say for sure if an ubuntu update fixed it, or if gnomevfs just had a bad week ;-) Things stopped working from one day to the other - thats when I reported that bug. I got used to the bug, and just didn't use the gnome-smb support any more. Now, I just tried again, it it works again....
