Confirming that Ricardo's backported kernel works for my EEE 1000H. Since it looks like this won't get fixed in time for the release, is it possible to put Ricardo's kernel on the .iso, somewhere out of the way? At least the release notes can direct people to install that, giving them a chance to download updates later.
