I think the alt-F7 trick definitely needs to go to the release notes... as it's a change in default behavior (people used to have them above the login prompt). I'm not sure if the kernel messages were flowing in karmic, but if they did we need to document that as well... For "splash" no need to document it in the release notes. If we do a generic boot experience/debug page, that could go there.
