I have the same issue and actually started a separate bug report, prior to seeing this one. I am still using 9.04 on my laptop because neither 9.10 or 10.04 (up to Beta 2) will not do anything with my Huawei E620 3G modem. Network manager doesn't even recognise it in Beta 2. This really needs to be fixed as mobile computing is almost a necessity these days for many people.
