axel, It looks like you are trying to run Ubuntu One under root instead of under your user account. This is not recommended and not supported by the Ubuntu One software. Enabling the root account is rarely necessary. Almost everything you need to do as administrator of an Ubuntu system can be done via sudo or gksudo. If you really need a persistent root login, the best alternative is to simulate a root login shell using sudo -i. Since Ubuntu One is not designed to be run as root this bug will be marked 'Wont Fix'. If you runU1 under your user account and still experience difficulty please come back here and reopen this bug by changing the 'Status' back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.
