Is anyone actually working on this? The "work-arounds" that people are suggesting aren't a solution.
Is this a problem with the driver? e.g. report the correct maximum resolution to xrandr based on the type of video card rather than JUST the driver used. Is the problem with xrandr? Is the problem with the way that the gnome screen settings application work? Seriously - there's a problem here. People are finding ways to not work with the full capabilities of their hardware. This error report seems to be being ignored.
