Binary package hint: synaptic
When you open the "Software Sources" application from the administration menu
and make any changes while another instance of Synaptic is running, the
application will be closed without further notice. What happens is that you
click on apply, after which it will ask you to "Update your sources ..." and
once you click on it it will say that another Synaptic is running, closing the
application rather than returning to the menu.
As I see it, the application should not be closed, but should stay open so the
user can still click on apply once the other instance of Synaptic has finished
its job.
