Same problem here with a POV Mobii. But this isn't a problem of cheese. gstreamer-properties doesn't show any camera anymore, /dev/video* is also missing, and even lsusb doesn't show anything, so t is probably a linux problem. Kernel version is 2.6.32-20.30, but the problem exists already for about 2 to 3 versions.
