Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpid
My system is an Acer Aspire 1410 (2009 11.6" netbook, not the full sized laptop released in 2005) with a Core 2 Solo @ 1.4 ghz. Under Windows Vista or Windows 7, the battery life is roughly 6 hours when idling with screen at moderate bringness and wi-fi on. Under Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, it is about 4 to 4.5 hours. Same conditions. Under Lucid (April 13th) 64-bit, it is about 3 to 3.5 hours. Same conditions. (Bug reported from this.) I have checked and made sure no process is using up any more than 1% CPU in the background with gnome-system-monitor.
