I don't have an "aticontrol" executable, but "aticonfig" is supposed to
create the relevant x.org entries with the --initial flag. When I run
"aticonfig --initial" I get the following:

$ sudo aticonfig --initial
Found fglrx primary device section
 Unable to find any supported Screen sections

$ sudo aticonfig --initial=check
Check: Found fglrx section.

$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
OpenGL version string: 3.2.9737 Compatibility Profile Context

So somehow fglrx is enabled but doesn't give me any access to configuration or
3D acceleration. What is weird is that I get some compositing effects with the
open-source ATI driver even though the KDE control panel tells me compositing
is not available.
