The best solution is to dual boot with Mandriva 2010 Free. The burner
works perfectly in Mandriva.  I use either Imgburn through wine or CD
Mason.  If imgburn doesn't detect the drive, make sure you hit
autodetect in the drive section of winecfg. You can access winecfg by
typing winecfg in the terminal. If you hit autodetect and still doesn't
work, change the mount point from media/cdrom to media/sr0 in the
configure your computer section, under Hardware. I'd be happy to answer
any questions, I know how frustrating this was. I think the problem is
because Ubuntu has diluted cdrecord. They have a modified version.
