Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

My Safecom SWLP-54108 Wireless PCI Card (Texas Instruments ACX111) works
absolutely fine in Edgy and Feisty if I set up the
/etc/network/interfaces file and run 'ifup' however if I have the script
set up for network-manager (or use the default script in Feisty) and use
'Knetworkmanager' or even 'network-manager-gnome' then they display that
no networks are found! (I know there are several in the area including
my own network that display in other apps)

if I then set up the network manually informing it what the wireless
name is it'll display it in the name of the found networks but only show
the strength at 50% when I know it is more than 80% using other
applications.

If I then attempt to connect to the network the progress bar shoots up
to 28% and displays configuring device and then just stalls and gets no
further.

If I use the ndiswrapper package and the correct Windows driver network-
manager works correctly, but this isn't the right thing as I have to set
up a network in the first place to get ndiswrapper dowloaded to change
over to that.
