No, enable_msi=1 is not sufficient.

When you say "don't split module options across lines" do you mean it
should be multiple options on one line like this:

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 model=test

I tried "options snd-hda-intel model=test" but without "enable_msi=1"
and got the same result as before. That is, sound only with headphones,
but plugged into the mic jack. No sound from speakers or headphone jack.

I ran the alsa-info.sh script again, with this setting:

options snd-hda-intel model=test
