Okay, so that illustrated the problem. I had these lines in /etc/apt/sources.list from an old development project: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/drizzle-developers/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/drizzle-developers/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main Commenting them out and doing "apt-get update" resolved the issue, because it then found the official jaunty package.
