Ok, I've been running kernel "2.6.32-19-generic #29~lp538377v201004072017 SMP Wed Apr 7 19:50:45 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux" for ovder 3 hours now, without the bug recurring. So far everything I've tried related to the HDMI output seems to function normally. It looks like this could be included in the Lucid kernel.
