Yes, I have the same problem, and it is starting to really get on my
nerves. Mostly I close the netbook lid, so it goes into standby. When
I'm low on battery, or when an update needs the netbook to be rebooted,
I "reboot" it. Initial layout is BE, azerty, since i'm Belgian
(offcourse), and I chose that since initial installation. So it always
changes to USA qwerty after reboot. A new entry, selected by default! I
always delete the newcomer, and choose BE again, and click "apply
system-wide", then I have to give in my root password, bla bla... NO
LUCK for me!! Man, that's annoying... Thought Windows was annoying, but
that's something else! Hey, VLC works like a breeze on a Windows
platform too, so does Firefox, Thunderbird, ... If Ubuntu-developers
can't get even this straight, what's the use of bashing on windows and
its users. It must affect all non-qwerty users. It's just plain
arrogance... Very disappointed! I'd like to see keyboard layouts getting
unified as well, just can't get a qwerty without a hassle yet here in
Belgium. Maybe we should start a petition for a global 'roman' layout,
being the usa-qwerty, or the dvorak.
