I've discovered that I can install everything from the command-line using apt-get without needing update-updmap. The error appears to be specific to using "Update Manager" and "Synaptic" (sorry I didn't mention Synaptic in the last comment).
Even after installing some of texlive with apt-get, trying to add more through Synaptic (I tested texlive-science) produces the same error. Using the update-updmap or updmap --disable classicovn.map didn't fix the error for Synaptic, but going back to apt-get, I was able to install it. -- package tex-common 2.06 failed to upgrade : The map file `classicovn.map' has not been found at all https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554956 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
