Unfortunately updating ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 failed on my USB thumb drive. Therefore I had to do the test without an updated system. I exercised the steps in /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt.gz In step 3: sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event5 (in my case) Pressing Fn+F1....F12 produces no printout! But as mentioned above - some of this spezial keys works. The rest of the keys seems to produce reasonable printouts. So, I have decided to wait for beta 2 which should be available within the next two days. Then I will do this test again and and try to provide useful information.
