To WeatherGod - To follow up on tests reported in ## 94 - 107, I booted the same computer w/ the U-10.04 beta ISO on a cd-rom. The last time I tried it, the computer ran for 2 - 3 minutes before freezing. Decided to see if I could go to System-Preferences-Appearance-Visual Effects and change from "Normal" to "None" in the time before lockup. I was able to change the setting.
Once the Visual Effects were set to "None", the computer ran fine. I spent about 10 minutes trying Firefox, solitaire and opening sample files from the desktop folder. It would be nice to give it a longer test, but after 10 problem-free minutes, I had to get on to other things and shut down. I wonder if people w/ freeze-ups might be able to get a "fast track" to the "none setting" as an installation option. tom -- Gnome Freezes -- Ubuntu 9.10 -- big time freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
