Hi Jeramy Yes, I almost forgot about it because the problem disapeared with the update to Ubuntu 9.10.
I had the problem on two very different machines and the problem was still there, after a complete reinstallation. I never found the reason, but as mentioned before the update to 9.10 solved the problem. Thank you very much for your reply. I am really happy with Ubuntu. I use it daily and I have almost forgotten all about MS Windows.
