Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Attempt to install Alternate Ubuntu 10.04 (Intel x86) on Intel D875PBZ
motherboard.

Installer completes the installation process but hangs at the first
Ubuntu logo screen indefinitely. No visible error messages or console
output available, none of the other terminals accessible in order to
diagnose problem further. Also no visible network activity either.
Repeated process 5 times with alternate configurations but same results.

Note:
1. This system has on-board SATA raid, however no disks were connected for this
test.
2. OS was installed on standard PATA port with a 40GB disk, system RAM 1.5GB.
3. Same problem appears with standard Ubuntu PC Desktop CD (Intel x86)
4. System has worked fine in past with Ubuntu 8.1 Jaunty which correctly
installed on a 80GB raid1 mirror.

** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
