Mine completely dropped out a few weeks ago. I've been having better success by disabling N mode on my router and forcing it to protocol G.
Haven't done a soak test so I'm sure this hasn't fixed the problem, merely mitigated it. But if you are trying the mainline kernels, might be interesting to try that in conjunction with disabling N mode on the router if that's relevant for you.
