I believe this bug is a duplicate of Bug #524956. The upstream bug is https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14667
As I noted in bug 524956, this regression effects more than just fans and temperature sensors. On my machine, it renders the Bluetooth and WiFi kill switches inoperable (resulting in the built-in bluetooth to be permanently off and WiFi to be permanently on).
