Just to clarify, this is an issue of focus. When you select a folder you switch focus from the Name field to the folders list. I think that each time the folders list is refreshed (e.g. because you clicked on and opened a folder), the focus should swtich immediately back to the Name field, because I don't think the user expects to start typing into the folders list in a Save dialog - if they want to do that unusual action, then they can manually switch focus again, by clicking.
