Please make sure you have version 0.92bubuntu71 or later of initramfs-
tools installed.  If you didn't, and you upgrade to this version, is the
problem resolved?

Originally, you reported:

But your report shows:

Which does not include the 'splash' argument - of course if you disable
the splash screen, you won't have a purple boot.  OTOH, your report also
claims:

> ProcCmdline: /sbin/plymouthd --mode=boot

... which is not supposed to be there.  Did you edit this report by hand
before submitting?  Can you confirm that you are booting with 'splash'
enabled?
