Brad, I'm not sure if I'm getting all this right, if not let me know. I've installed and booted into 2.6.34-999-generic and tested the microphone again and still no luck, I had no change at all. The fallowing is what I get when I run "apport-collect -p alsa-base 502223" under the new kernel.
