Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gpodder

Steps to reproduce:

- Open gpodder and make sure there is a new episode of any podcast
- Start playing the episode (it will be marked as played)
- Log out of GNOME

Next time you start gpodder, the episode will be marked as new again.

Since gpodder may conceivably be kept running for days, it would be
better if this state was committed to persistent storage immediately to
guard against crashes, power failures etc. as well.
