Actually, I have discovered an error of mine.
Perhaps you can help me redirect this bug report?

I hadn't noticed this new fact before. And in fact, I can't now be
certain it was always the case in earlier versions of lucid. But it is
certainly the case now.

I have a wireless USB headset. It works quite well, also with lucid.

New Fact: When I boot lucid with this USB wireless receiver inserted
the following problems occur;

a) no sound
b) unable to reboot or shutdown graphically (i.e. to reboot it is necessary to
f1 down to console and do a 'sudo reboot'. To use the graphical 'reboot' from a
user session only takes me back to the login screen. Subsequent attempts to
graphically reboot or shutdown are from the login screen also impossible)

Now, when I ensure the USB receiver is NOT inserted, I can not reproduce
the above symptoms.

While this is looking not quite like the bug I reported. It is still, I
believe, a bug.
And it definitely did not occur in Karmic.

Can you please help in the redirection of this bug report to the
appropriate package ?

thanks for your help.

Regression: On startup of Lucid Beta 1 Ubuntu, no sound. No other application
seems to be locking sound device. Worked fine in Karmic.
