Yet, with kernel 2.6.32-15 or earlier, whatever renderer it's using, it renders 
on-center and does not flicker when X starts. In this case, I am going to stick 
with the older kernel which also gives a higher video framerate until whatever 
changed there is fixed or caught up with.

Is this something necessary to mantain compatability with the
proprietary drivers, perhaps?
