Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cryptsetup

At boot, Lucid asks for a passphrase for the encrypted partition. I expect to
get one dot per character of the passphrase I type.
However, I don't get one "dot" per character. For some of the characters
(different ones every boot or login attempt), there is
no dot. If I repeat any characters that get missed (sometimes typing the same
character two or three times) until
I get exactly one dot per character of passphrase, the decryption succeeds. So,
it acts as if some characters
are captured by something else.

This is a new keyboard, and I have not seen this problem in any other context
-- I don't think it's hardware. It's
very repeatable: it happens at every boot. Which characters get dropped changes
from boot to boot.
