To WeatherGod: I made an additional test on the computer described in post #94. Wanted to see if the cd-rom w/ the ISO file for U-9.10 would run after changing the Visual Effects menu in U-9.04, which is in use on the computer.
Booted the computer from the hard disk. Went to: System - Preferences - Appearance - Visual Effects. Chose the "none" option. Rebooted the system using the U-9.10 cd-rom. Chose the "Try Ubuntu without change to your computer" option. It loaded and ran fine. No freeze up. Went to the System - Preferences - Appearance - Visual Effects menu and changed the option from "none" to "normal". It froze within seconds. It seems that the setting on U-9.04 carries over to the ISO test version. If changed to "normal" the computer locks up... tom -- Gnome Freezes -- Ubuntu 9.10 -- big time freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
