Seconded. I have an Intel fake-raid partition which the partitioner sees and partitions, but formatting from `partman' crashes.
Error message (from Alt-F4): partman: mke2fs 1.41.10 (10-Feb-2009) partman: Could not stat /dev/mapper/isw_fbhifjfaf_SingleR11 --- No such file or directory partman: partman: The device apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly? "SingleR1" is the name for the raid volume, 1 is the partition number which we're trying to format It's interesting (well, to me it is...) that /dev/mapper has a device named isw_fbhifjfaf_SingleR1p1 (only difference "p" before the final 1) and that running mke2fs (from Alt-F3) on that partition completed successfully and thatthe installer is happily writing to that partition after starting again, giving a mount point and declining the option of formatting it.
